Welcome to the Home of the
Essex Online Parish Clerks
"Essex, a south-eastern maritime co. of England bounded on the north by Suff. and Cambs., on the west by Herts. and Middx., on the south separated from Kent by the estuary of the Thames, and washed on the east by the North Sea ..." Cassell Gazetter of Great Britain and Ireland 1898.
We are a worldwide group of volunteers who endeavour to provide free information about a parish, its people and history, to assist family historians. Each Essex OPC has a mandate to collect, collate and compile reference material for parishes throughout the county in the form of transcripts, extracts, abstracts, and indexes of original source records. An OPC (Online Parish Clerk) - is a volunteer who collects and preserves information in order to help researchers - FOR FREE. The OPC should in no way be confused with the Parish Council appointed Parish Clerks.
The Essex OPC project needs the efforts of many people to make it a success. If you are be interested in helping make these vital records available, please click one of the links at the top or bottom of this page for more information or to volunteer - the more help we get the faster the information will be available to all!
This site will only be as good as the contributions received from you! Please help make the site a success by contributing your transcriptions - records, wills or any other information relevant to our parishes.
